It’s been a long ride, as when counting the two hiatuses the series has been around for a full decade. But everything must come to an end, and with the Alvarez Empire story winding down it’s time to say good bye to Natsu, Lucy, Erza, Gray and the others. (At least until someone can get 100 Years Quest off the ground.)RELATED:But before we leave the Kingdom of Fiore for good, it’s time to count down the ten best story arcs Fairy Tail ever had.
The last arc of the main series, the Alvarez Empire storyline has a few weaknesses to it. The Spriggan 12 is hyped up as this unstoppable force, yet several of them get wiped out in comedic and unsatisfying ways. This arc makes it onto the list primarily because it does wrap up many of the mysteries which have been around in the series since day one. However, it does feel somewhat unsatisfying as end series arcs go—there aren’t many final power-ups or incredible battles like fans have become accustomed to by this point. In that respect, arguably the Tartaros arc was far superior. The sixth story arc in the series focuses on the Fairy Tail guild member Loke.
It’s a short arc that explains the character’s background as a Celestial Spirit, and how a being that technically belongs to an entirely different world was able to remain in the world of humans for so long. Though the storyline is meant to focus on Loke, it also gives Lucy her own moment in the spotlight. In addition to giving us a glimpse into the rules and world of Celestial Sprits, this is also one of the first times we get to see just how much the Spirits have meant to Lucy. The Tower of Heaven arc gives both the viewer and the guild the opportunity to learn about the backstory of Erza, the so-called Queen of the Fairies. After a couple dozen episodes of seeing Erza as the strongest person in the room at all times, this arc goes a long way towards showing the cracks underneath her magic armor.RELATED:Seeing her backstory with Jellal and how she spent her early years as a slave is heartbreaking, and seeing how hard Natsu and her guildmates are willing to fight for her shows us just how much the guild means to one another. 7 PHANTOM LORD. The Phantom Lord arc is arguably the first time things get really serious for the entire guild.
The first few arcs were spent slowly introducing the world of Fairy Tail, and setting up the character dynamics for the main characters. But this arc sees the entire guild under attack by a rival guild by the name of Phantom Lord.
Over the next nine episodes we get total chaos, with attacks on each other's guild halls and showdowns between different members of the group. This is the first time fans get to see just how much Makarov cares for his guild as the master, and why he’s not the old guy to mess with.
Over the course of Fairy Tail, the team eventually battles against every relevant Dark Guild on the continent. But you never forget your first.
Oracion Seis was an incredibly powerful guild made up of six members—a small number, but large enough for Fairy Tail to form an alliance with not one, but three other guilds in order to have a chance. Even then, it takes everything all four guilds have to bring down just the first five members of the team, to say nothing of their even more powerful leader. The Oracion Seis arc goes a long way towards expanding the overall world of Fairy Tail, giving us an inkling of just how huge everything is. 5 BATTLE OF FAIRY TAIL.
Smack in the middle of the Tower of Heaven and the Oracion Seis arc is the Battle for Fairy Tail, where the guild owner’s grandson Laxus Dreyar comes to try and claim Fairy Tail for himself. Though Laxus and his Thunder God Tribe are outnumbered, they give some of the strongest members of the guild a run for their money. This arc is one of the best in the series if only for two reasons: the showdown between Laxus versus Natsu and Gajeel, and the “Fairy Tail” symbol during the Fantasia parade. Though this battle of guild members got more serious than any of their past ones, this arc showed that the bond between members of Fairy Tail couldn’t ever be broken. Fairy Tail’s Tenrou Island arc is where the series finally sets in motion some of the plots that are just now paying off.
During their annual tests for promotion to S-Class, a select group of Fairy Tail mages are attacked by the dark guild known as Grimoire Heart.RELATED:As usual, the dark guild pushes the team to its limit, as they face a host of new, esoteric magics that make victory look near impossible. But most importantly is the ending, where the final boss of the entire series is introduced: a giant dragon who nearly kills the entire team by expending almost zero effort. Can’t say Mashima doesn’t know how to up the stakes. 3 GRAND MAGIC GAMES. However impossibly, it took Fairy Tail over 150 episodes before they ever thought to actually do a tournament. After being gone for seven years thanks to Tenrou Island, even the strongest members of Fairy Tail have been left behind, with their guild in shambles.
The Grand Magic Games appear as an opportunity to allow the team to put themselves back on the map. This arc was filled with some great fights not only for team Fairy Tail, but it also let some of the other guilds make themselves relevant as well, including Mermaid Heel and Fairy Tail’s new rivals: Sabretooth. When the entire Fairy Tail guild is transported to a world where magic is scarce and even their own magic powers no longer work, things start to look pretty bleak. Fortunately, the entire guild is made up of people too stupid to know when to give up. Transported to an alien world, the team of Fairy Tail comes face to face with the true origin behind Happy, Natsu’s adorable talking cat partner, as well as the story behind their fellow guild member, Mystogan. They also get to meet alternate universe versions of themselves, which ranges from hilarious for Natsu’s daredevil race car driver expy to terrifying for Erza’s completely evil expy.
Sure, the Tartaros arc has Erza’s worst, most nonsensical fight ever. But setting that aside, it’s full of some of the best moments in the series. Finally meeting Gray’s father. Seeing Laxus’ devotion to the guild and his friends. Wendy going full on Dragon Force mode.
Lucy summoning the Celestial Spirit King. The entire guild teaming up to take on the final villain. It’s too bad this couldn’t have been the final arc of the series, as it gives us a ton of reveals and pushes the heroes to their limits.
The Alvarez Empire is just a disappointing epilogue chapter by comparison to this arc.NEXT.
But before going to the main arc,Let's first revisit the Loke Arc,which somehow contributes to the Main arc.
The Star that will never return to the Sky
We can now finally know what's up with Loke. He is actually a banished Celestial spirit who broke a fundamental rule. I can say he's innocent because he's just defending his companion from his abusive master. Also his time is up in this world.
I loved Lucy's devotion to her Spirits, she really values them and treats her as her friends and equals. She must have known that they have feelings too and can feel pain;not just mere tools. And I also can't believe she also stood up to the Celestial spirit King and calling Him STASH FACE?!? She is quite daring. Thanks to her daring and courageous act STASH FACE granted Loke or Leo a second chance. He can live again, now together with her new master and friend.
Loke is very thankful and for his gratitude he gave them tickets to Akane Resort . Everyone is so excited including Erza.
I'll never forget how happy Erza looked happy that day, she couldn't stop smiling, but little did I know that smile would soon vanish...
Alright to the main arc!
Team Natsu is enjoying their time at the Akane Resort. Everyone's having a great time even Ezra is enjoying. However, this will be shortlived when some shady characters of Erza's past pop up again bringing with them bad vibes. Will her grim past penetrate this armoured wizard? Will Team Natsu be part of an intricate game?
*flute sounds
:notes: Whoa Whoa Whoa... :notes:
The 3rd OP was f.t. and it really is epic and the scenes makes it more epicer! I like the scenes with them and their past trying to resolve them. I really got excited about this Siegrain scene with another Siegrain with a hood. Then them flying around trying to fight him. I thought to myself, 'This will be an epic arc'
And the Lyrics say about Not giving up, which makes it more great.
:microphone: Motto motto mae e mae e kimi no ikashita yume akiramenaide :microphone:
(Go forward, more and more!
Don't give up on your awesome dream!)
Also another thing that this makes it special, I told myself 'if ever you're going to watch FT remember this, when you hear some flutes and see Natsu stand on a rock then this was the epic part you saw 7 years ago'
Backstory Checklist:
:white_check_mark: Lucy
:white_check_mark: Gray
:white_large_square: Erza
:white_large_square: Natsu
:white_large_square: Happy
This arc shows the Past of FT's powerful female wizard,Erza. I didn't expect her having a grim past. All those misfortune events really made her what she is today. This explains why she is so noble and virtuous because she had seen her loved ones die in front of her and her 'family' left behind.
While rewatching this,I've realised that Jellal was cunningly pure evil and I hate to admit it he's actually cool as a villian. Looking back at these events,Jellal must've been really hard on himself esp. what he did. If we're going to compare him now and before.
There was a lot of mention about this 'Zeref'. Is he that important or pure evil or disastrous? (First Impression thought)
☆Favourite and/or Notable Moments☆
Grandpa Rob
'The only way you can believe in something as if you feel it in your heart'
He contributes to unlocking Erza's true potential. He is a very inspiring person and a Paternal/hopeful figure although staying in that desolate place. His words really struck Erza, with that she gained confidence and esteem to revolt and lead.
The scenes also simultaneously show the foundation of Erza's and Jellal's character. Erza learned to believe with a heart, while Jellal was proselytised with Fear and Darkness.
Lucy and Juvia's Unison Raid
I liked the thought of Juvia's plan on Joining FT,especially she's fun to be with because of her obsession of Gray. However, her stain with Phantom made me a bit doubtful. When she opened up about why she'll join, made me realise that she's just gloomy girl who never had a good time. FT is a new start and new different experiences, that Phantom didn't offer. Her days are brighter than before which was gloomy.
Erza Then and Now
She kept her heart shielded in Armour because she thought that was the only way to keep it from breaking again... but it didn't stop the pain.
Young Erza must've been through a lot, losing his friends, seeing Granpa Rob die and a shocking personality change with Jellal. No wonder she's very silent and distant from other guildmates, who are always merry. Most people see her as a strong silent type and tough girl in her armour. Because she is too odd dor the Guild, the Gray tells her to try to blend in with the guild and tried to challenge her. Of course, Erza easily beat the Gray. But on one occasion when the Gray tried to get back on her, but he saw her crying. He asked her why and she replied that she gets nervous around people. The Gray sees her situation and sympathises with her. Gray also witnessed another crying episode with Erza during the Phantom incident. These incidents makes him worry since she is not always like this.
![Jellal Jellal](/uploads/1/2/5/4/125433169/212541362.jpg)
Gray is a cool caring friend and he tries to make his friends okay. Especially with Erza since she is always seen as strong and confident.
I can't rely on my Armour anymore,I know I'm strong enough to defeat you without it...
Because she was weak back then, she couldn't protect the ones she loved. She tries to be strong and tough behind her Armour and trying to maintain this image. She always rely on her armour to protect herself from being hurt again. But making her too protective and made her distant and seen as cold to others, making her connections with others hard.
In short, she's a mushy person in the inside who operates a cold tough robot in the outside.
Thanks to her warm guildmates and life's been kind to her,the armour that shielded her broken heart cracked and begun to connect and feel again. The warmness she received healed and improved her.
Her struggles is personally relatable. Because of the bad things happened to me,I've decided to close my door and uncaring towards others so that it will not happen to me again. But this made me stagnant and I lost myself. I began to open again when I felt kindness again after so many years and started all over again. It's in my secret mission to prevent others suffering my fate, for I know how hard it is when no one cares. Now I'm doing my best not to go back that phase and help others as much as I can.
This is how I loved Erza's character...
But I don't still quite understand how the heck did she beat her....
Jellal's Story
I liked this part where Jellal opened up about his entire life that he was empty and was manipulated. I somehow accept this explaination, and felt bad for him a bit. However,I knew from the start that he was just trying to trick Erza. But still I find his story legit.
And this is where I first shipped them and when they're about to hug,I used to say 'KNOW KISS!' :joy:
Natsu's love for his friends :fire:
I really look up to his attitude of caring & fighting for a friend no matter what. Fighting for someone is really dignifying and Honorable. His character can be a good role model.
His 'Philia' and 'Agape' for others is really strong, friend or foe alike.
Fall of Titania
Even though it's obvious that she's not dead,it is still very painful to watch. It gets worse when Natsu didn't accept her death very well. This really hits the feels. :sob:
And this part....
I thought and expect that they would be a new addition to the Guild but they've decided to decline and to travel the world because of being trapped in the tower. But still they've been considered part of the Guild and we got to see this Farewell speech.
If you leave Fairy Tail. You must follow these set of rules.
One: You must never reveal sensitive information about Fairy Tail to others for as long as you live.
Two:You must never use former contacts met through your being in the Guild for personal gain.
Three: Though our paths may have diverged, you must continue to live out your life with all your might, you must never consider your own life to be something insignificant, and you must never forget about your friends who loved you.

_______________
:musical_keyboard: Piano intro :musical_keyboard:
The 3rd ED was Gomen ne Watashi, it features Erza laid back on a tree with Natsu,Gray,Lucy tries not to disturb her as we all know she's scary. But actually, she's just hiding her emotions behind her armour.
I Loved the running scenes with her growing up.
The last part was the best,it shows the transition of her past family to her new one.
Overall this ED fits this Arc.
First Debut of the Oracion Sies: We've first wondered who the heck are they for they can't just be side characters.
So this is where they took some epic Shots of Natsu
